Unbeatable Cycling Tours
When most people think of San Diego, visions of beaches, whales and zoos often come to mind. There is so much more to us than you might think. As the unofficial capital of triathlon (sorry Boulder), you’ll see countless cyclists along the roads, tons of shops and a populous that is used to sharing their roads with those on two wheels.
Some of these rides are difficult. You are by no means required to ride the entire course. Likewise, if you can’t spare 7 nights, let us know what works for you and we’ll tailor the tour (and price) for your schedule.

Sundays-Saturdays.
We’ll pick you up at the airport and transport you to our home base of Carlsbad, California. Pick up your rented bike or meet with our mechanic to help get your ride dialed in. There will be a late afternoon easy ride for anyone who wishes to come and then a meet and great dinner to get to know your guides and fellow riders. What a way to start the week! We’ll take you along part of the Ironman California 70.3 bike route; which starts in Oceanside, CA and rides the coast onto Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. The coastal route of this ride is flat. (Please note that picture ID will be required to enter the base. We are very lucky to have access, however, the base may restrict access at any time. Alternate routes will be available.) Ready to go? We’ll be up early and hit one of the classic cycling routes in San Diego County. The Great Western Loop is a rural setting which encompasses about 40 miles of riding and 4000 feet of climbing. You’ll have a nice warm up on rolling hills before hitting the major climbs ranging from 5% to 11% grade (commonly known as “the wall”). Temperatures and terrain can vary greatly, so please be prepared. Recovery day…We’ll take a trip to downtown San Diego, going downhill from Balboa Park and riding along Coronado Peninsula with a stop for lunch at the Hotel Del Coronado. San Diego truly felt included when the Tour of California came to our county for its final stage in 2009. You’ll ride that course today, starting in Rancho Bernardo and riding all the way up Mount Palomar. It is tradition to stop for pancakes on top of the mountain (over 5,000 feet up), from there we will continue down to the finish in town of Escondido. Recovery day…An easy, scenic ride through Mission Bay park. Mostly flat and lots of good swimming places should you decide to take a dip. We’ll concentrate on the rolling hills of the rural towns of Bonsall and Fallbrook, through avocado groves and horse farms to the wine country of Temecula. A late lunch at the Wein Family vineyard will cap off our cycling and we’ll head back to base.Day 1

All of the Particulars
- Airport greetings and transfers are included (including bike transfers, of course).
- Our accommodation will be at the Marriott Residence Inn in Carlsbad, California.
- Rooms are one bedrooms suites (double occupancy), providing you with a kitchenette, living area, ample room for your luggage and cycling equipment as well as a roommate to share in the fun.
- Single rooms are available for a supplement.
- Hot breakfast is provided daily (M-F 6:30-9:30 S-S 7:00 to 10:00), all meals except two dinners and one lunch are included.
- Each cyclist will be equipped with a two way radio headset so communication with your trip leader and fellow riders will be easier.
- Start or finish your ride as you feel comfortable.
- On city streets, you will be followed by the Unbeatable Travel van, which is equipped with warning lights and signs for motorists so they know you are ahead.
- We have an on-call massage therapist to help soothe sore muscles. $85
- Bicycle rental- Cervelo P2SL or Soloist available to rent for $225.
- Translators are available, please call for pricing on a case by case basis.
